hello,

when the page loads everything is just the way i want (every select box is at "Please Select")

When i select something and go to the next page everything is ok.

But when I hit Back button on the browser, the select boxes become EMPTY

Where as it would be good to have them back at their selected values if not possible at leaset at "Please Select" position..

any clues?

Cheers!

That is a hard one man!

I bet you are using IE, right?
Firefox behaves as expected but IE not!!

Done some tests with [www.salix.gr]
changed ajax method from GET to POST (helps with IE cache) but still holds the selected values but not the right items in the select boxes.....

even added META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache" in the header, but no luck...

I am realy disappointed with IE's behaviour sad smiley(

Any one, any idea??

The point is that we need a way to prevent IE caching the page....

why?

if only it could cache it the right way, then there would not be any problems.. when i hit back the selected values disappear, strangely nothing appears in the boxes..

can we use some kind of session cookie to store the selections?

Funny!! in my IE select boxes have values, but the wrong ones and selected are ones in the correct place. Looks like semi-cached.

Did some google on that and lots of people have the same problem with IE's back button...
The only proposed solution is to make IE not to cache the page.

Storing selection in session variables it would a good solution in the case you use select boxes
for navigation. But still dont know if IE will re-execute server side script when you press back button.

A test will show smiling smiley

its o.k. if we can make it not to chache the page and thus have the "Please Select" selection selected at every box..
